Runner's World Go App Reviews

Huge disappointment

I was super excited to use this app for the holiday streak! I had been logging runs for 3 weeks but there was a problem changing miles to kilometers. I logged out and when I Logged back in, all of the runs I had entered were gone. Everything reset back to zero. In addition, the metric system could not be used and under "plans" there was a unending list of the same plan...the holiday streak. What a disappointment for an app that could be really great.

One giant flaw

This apps plans would be amazing but theres absolutely no way to change the start date. It defaults to applying a plan on the day you select it. The app needs to allow you to select either a start or end date. Thats fundamental! For example, Ive already been aggressively training and wanted to start an advanced plan with a goal inside of 16 weeks. Today is Wednesday but I need the plan to back date to Sunday of this week. It wont! I subscribed for 5 minutes and turned off auto-renew. Implement a fix and its a great app. Otherwise avoid unless you happen to select on the specific day you need to start a plan.

So So

I like all the details it gives (tips, what to wear, temperature etc). My only complaint is that though it tracks using map my run gps, it doesnt default to whatever settings youve selected in the app. So though the app is running, it doesnt offer any voice feedback therefore I have to constantly check the phone to see how distance, time etc. it doesnt even play music. I dont like that. If its going to use map my run for gps then it should be fully integrated so you can access all the info you would have access to if you were using the map my run app directly.

Schedule disappears

Would be a great app if the future calendar events (runs) didnt disappear two weeks into an eight week program. The only way I can see the scheduled run is the day of the run. Going to cancel the subscription if not fixed soon.

Not worth the trouble

This app is terrible. Well, I guess I have no experience using the app itself, since it made such a mess of things interacting with other apps on my phone that I deleted it after one day. I was excited to up my running game and start on the run faster 8 week program yesterday, but I also use the health app and loseit app to track my steps. When I downloaded this app, my step count suddenly shot up to 300,000 for the day. I played around with things a bit and thought I had unsynced everything yesterday, but when I woke up this morning my steps were already at 300k again. So annoying. Done. Deleted. Good riddance.

Terrible and buggy

This app is one of the worst Ive used. The plans dont work right (i.e., the long run day you choose doesnt go into the finished plan on that day ever) and Ive made attempts to contact support with no luck. Its buggy, jerky, and just plain doesnt function most of the time. I really want it to work so maybe it eventually will!? I keep checking back in to see if its any better but it never is.

Annoyed

Many glitches, all of my logged runs got deleted, could use lots of improvement. Was excited to have a summer training plan though until I found out after a couple weeks you had to pay to have your training plan, think it would be nice to have a free trial of a training plan at least to see if you like it and if it really is effective.

Whats the point?

Makes no sense to have this app. RW could do so much better.

Utterly useless

Plans are limiting, doesnt sync with garmin/suunto data feeds. Less than a shadow of what it could be. Why cant we have the old smart coach that let you tailor your training? You got rid of that for these crappy and overly complicated plans. Who does long runs on Thursday? Garbage.

Okay at first, just dont pay for it!

I found this app fun at first, the trading plans were army fingertips and each day I completed would cross off in the calendar. Two weeks in, it was time to subscribe so I did. Now the watch and the phone will not connect and saved a 0 miles run over my completed runs the last three days. DO NOT SUBSCRIBE or you will be as frustrated as I am.

Terrible App

Just started marathon training and was super excited to use the app. What a disappointment. Non-intuitive and super confusing. Paid for it but just cancelled subscription. Not worth it at all.

Missing A Few Pieces

Im not sure why there isnt a way to manually log miles. I dont take my phone running, so I cant really track my progress. Getting a routine and schedule is great, but again, Id like to be able to make manual changes. It automatically starts each plan assuming your race is exactly 8 weeks from the start date, which is just weird. Dont get this app until you are exactly 8 weeks out from wanting to achieve a goal.

Not Comparable to other apps

Im really disappointed. I wanted to really like this app since its a reputable company but it just doesnt compare to others. 1) There isnt any voice coaching during a run so if you like to hear your pace and how many miles you completed you have to look at your phone. For someone using an armband we know this is a challenge while running. 2) There isnt any way to customize the training plans. So I like long runs on the weekends when this has it set up during the weekdays. It just doesnt fit my lifestyle to do long runs during the week. You cant pick which days you run at all. 3) There isnt any reminders on your phone for what you should run on a particular day. Again- just surprised with all the other running apps Ive tried that this one doesnt have basic features and you have to pay a monthly fee to have a training plan. Just disappointed in this app. Very Very Basic running app.

So bummed

1. Provide voice feedback (free apps offer this) I need encouragement dude! 2. Today is a two mile run according to my plan, but my dashboard reads "rest or cross train" what? 3. Once I start a training plan, I cant change what day Im on. For example my buddy and I started on a Monday. She downloaded the app on Tuesday and it wont let her start on day two. She has to start at day one, on that Tuesday. 4. I "started" a plan a few times. Once I got one rolling, I cant delete the others. Really limited, totally bummed. How can you charge for an app that is so bare when many free ones offer more?

Great app

A good break from the traditional track my run GPS apps. The content is great and the overall design is slick and easy to follow. Look forward to the next update.

Love It!

Love the Runners World new app! It was great to keep an eye on my pace and have the map handy if I wanted to change up my route. Great Job!

Needs Improvement :)

I love the concept, particularly with the plans, weather, and What to Wear information that Ive used for years. I would, however, expect more of the features of MapMyRun if thats whats driving the run tracking: - Unable to delete redundant plans. - Unable to review runs from within the app. They must be viewed in MapMyRun. - No voice cues, updates, or music integration. - Unable to tell if there is any split information, or cues for interval training.

Loved it until...

Loved the app because it provided great running plans, but when I recorded my runs, they kept on over riding my previous runs because Im in a different time zone (HST) and the app doesnt have a time zone feature.

Runners World Go: yuck

The app doesnt allow you to choose the start date of the plan you select; it always starts on the following Sunday. I sent email to the support address and received no reply whatsoever. Very poor execution on this app, and not helpful for Runners worlds online reputation.

Like this app

I think this app is great and it goes at a good pace but it would be nice to have a feature for when the race starts so that the plan then starts on the specific day for the length of the program or to input when we want to start our program.
